TO celebrate the opening of their new headquarters the HoneyRose Foundation is inviting people to plaster their names over their ‘million pound piano’.

The charity’s founder Lynn Duffy said the idea was to raise £1m by asking people to pay £1 to have their name emblazoned on the upright.

She said: “Businesses or people can add their names to it. We saw a similar idea a few years ago with a sports car which raised a lot of money.

“We are just trying to raise as much as possible. We may end up having to put extra wood on the back to accommodate the amount. The names will be on tiny stickers to fit them all on.

“We are getting more and more applications for help daily and need more financial support. We have names already on the piano but once the ball gets rolling we expects it to be very popular.”

HoneyRose which aims to help grant the wishes of people with terminal and life limiting illnesses recently moved into the former gas showrooms and Millets building on the corner of Ormskirk Street.

Former Saints captain Paul Sculthorpe and the High Sheriff of Merseyside Abila Pointing were guest of honours.

The building is home to their new shop and offices and they intend to open a function room on the top floor which overlooks the town centre.

The charity will also be holding their ball on Saturday, October 25 at Langtree Park to mark their 10th anniversary.
