THREE people who were taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning after collapsing are believed to have taken the drug mephedrone at a dance music festival in St Helens.

Merseyside Police issued a warning today after being called following the hospital admissions.

Although the investigation is in its early stages, officers believe that all three had attended the same musical festival in Sherdley Park on Saturday night.

Their conditions have improved significantly and they have all been discharged from hospital.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Anyone who has taken the drug and is concerned should seek medical advice.

"We would like them to come forward for two reasons. The first to check that they are safe and well and secondly to see if they have any information which could help us with our inquiries.

"Those with serious side effects should seek urgent medical treatment."

Anyone who has any information which could help the police with their inquiries can contact St Helens CID on 0151 709 6010 ext 6804, 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
