TWO burglars threatened a woman with a knife in her home before escaping with two mobile phones.
They struck at a house on Alder Street in Newton-le-Willows at 8.25pm on Monday.
One offender forced his way into the property armed with what was described as a cosh. He then used a knife from the kitchen to threaten her and demanded cash.
Both fled with the phones and some cigarettes.
Detective Constable Roy Waller said: “Luckily the woman wasn’t hurt but she was understandably very frightened.
“I’d appeal to anyone who recognises the offenders' descriptions or saw anything suspicious in the area on Monday night to contact us.”
The first offender is described as 5ft 6in, in his late teens or early 20s, and slim.
He had a round face, was clean shaven and is believed to have been wearing a hooded top. He had short, light hair and spoke with a local accent.
The knifeman is also thought to be in his late teens or early 20s and around 5ft 5in. He is also slim, with short brown hair and is thought to have been wearing a blue jacket. He too had a St Helens accent.
