POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was left with a serious head injury following a crash yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called to Crank Road in Kings Moss just after 4pm following reports of a collision between a van and a man riding a bike.

Emergency services found the 38-year-old cyclist with a serious head injury and he was taken to Aintree Hospital.

Patrols from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit attended and Pimbo Road and Crank Road were closed while investigators examined the scene.
