YOU'VE probably heard of the Duke Street Shuffle...but now it’s time for St Helens Sunday Soulful Re-shuffle.

On Sunday , August 31, bars and pubs across the town centre will be hosting a day of free soul entertainment.

It is the brainchild of Karl Winstanley, better known as DJ Wink. After organising three successful Duke Street Soul Shuffles across eight bars in 2013 Karl, 50, has expanded the event with a further more venues signing up for the 'Re-shuffle'.

Starting at 1pm in Breeze Bar, the Sunday Soulful will see live acts and DJs performing all aspects of soul, culminating with a set by DJ Wink himself at Havana Bar, finishing at 3am.

St Helens born Karl, who will DJ for a whopping 15 hours on the day, said: “It started out as just a Duke Street thing last year but due to interest we’ve expanded to include venues all over town. I’m trying to get some good nightlife back into St Helens. I love my town and I’m really looking forward to the Re-Shuffle.

“I just love soul music and I always go to different events all around Britain. I’ve been Sunday Soulful posters up at all the other Soul events I’ve been to recently and I’ve been getting good feedback, so we should get people from all over coming into St Helens on the day.”

One of the pubs added to the Re-Shuffle line up is The Sefton which will host Liverpool-based soul vocalist Lewis Jackson. General manager Matthew Williams said: “The event is really good for the town. People used to complain that there was nothing going on in the town centre but that’s not the case anymore.

“There’s lots going on now, the bars are doing their bit and now it’s up to the people of St Helens to come down, have a good day out and enjoy themselves."
