POLICE have arrested four men following two robberies at shops within the space of half an hour yesterday evening (Thursday, August 21).
Just after 7pm officers were called to reports of a robbery at the Co-op on Warrington Road in Rainhill.
At 7.30pm they received another call saying that a Bargain Booze in Maghull had been targeted.
In both incidents a group of men with their faces covered entered the shops threatened staff and escaped with a quantity of cigarettes.
No one was hurt in either incident.
Following an extensive search four men aged 25, 26, 26 and 41 were arrested on suspicion of robbery.
All are in custody where they are being questioned by officers.
