Stop these litterbugs

First published in News by

I FULLY back the new council scheme that will allow wardens to fine litterbugs.

I live on Heather Brae in Earlestown and every day I could easily fill a bin bag up from rubbish, cigarette stumps, empty pop and beer cans, chip papers and so on.

I would like to see the wardens down this area because it is getting worse.

It is not only litter but dog fouling as well.

I’ve been in touch with the street cleaners but they don’t seem to do it on a regular basis.

I hope that this letter is read by the right people and that hopefully something will be done about it.

How effective it will be will depend in some way on how many Wardens will actually be available to cover the borough. I do not remember a figure being mentioned but considering the size of the problem, a fair number of personnel will be required. I would also suggest they may require body armour and pepper spray to confront some of the weird and bizarre individuals who cause so many problems for this town

I'm sure that if there was the financial reward for fining litterers of all sorts,we would have the cleanest streets out
