A MAN who was found dead at his home has been described by grieving relatives as a “likeable lad who had been through hard times”.

The body of Paul Tully was discovered at a block of flats on Beacon Grove in Blackbrook at 2.20am last Thursday (August 14).

Neighbours have spoken of their sadness and alarm, with some leaving flowers outside his home.

His distraught family issued a statement, which read: “Paul was always polite to people such as his neighbours and local shop keepers. He would always pay back any money he owed, even a couple of pence to shops from previous visits.

“Paul was no angel and has been through some hard times with all his family but he was a likeable lad with a cheeky smile and we all loved him.

“He loved reading and writing short stories and listening to Talk Radio. He will be missed greatly by all his family and will always be loved by us all.”

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “He’d lived here about two years. It’s so sad and people round here are still very shocked. I keep having nightmares about it.”

Jamie Hughes, 33, of no fixed address, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday (August 19) charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody and is due back at court in November.

A second man aged 33 who was also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.
