HAYDOCK Park was bouncing on Saturday as the legendary Sir Tom Jones performed to a sell-out 18,000 crowd.

Sir Tom may be 74 years old now but the Welsh-born singer still knows how to put on a good show.

After a thrilling day of racing in The Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes, he took to the open air stage with the Saturday sun still shining over a packed racecourse.

Tom intertwined several of his classic numbers with songs from his more recent projects in a varied 90-minute show.

The undoubted highlights were renditions of old favourites, with the crowd singing along to Delilah, Sex Bomb and It’s Not Unusual.

Even a brief interruption due to a temporary electrical fault could not dampen the mood, with the showman back on to the stage to carry on where he left off within minutes.

In fact the only thing missing was the anticipated What’s New Pussycat encore which never materialised.

The performance rounded off a huge weekend of open air music at the venue following Jessie J’s performance in front of thousands on Friday.
