ALL things plum will be celebrated at a fun competition this Saturday.

The monthly Kings Moss farmers' market will hold a special Plum Festival which will see visitors challenged to recite a set text while holding a plum in their mouth.

A prize of an afternoon tea for two at Fir Tree Farm Cafe will be on offer for the person who shows the greatest 'clarity of diction'.

The farm already has a growing list of entrants for the contest which starts at 11.15am with suggestions for the tongue twister already being made.

Alan Abbott, owner of Fir Tree farm, said: “Can you speak with a plum in your mouth? Well it's not that easy when you are reciting a Tongue Twister!

“We will also have Real Plum trees for sale including Damson Merryweather, Victoria and Green Gage and an array of plum goodies such as pork and plum pies, plum cakes, tarts, plum, curds, jams, chutneys and plum fruits all from the producers.

The event is open from 9.30am to 1.30pm and is free to the public with free parking available. Plums are provided for the free competition so people can come along and enter on the day.
