MORE than 100 new homes will be built across St Helens thanks to a multi million pound budget which will see a wave of affordable homes across the North West.
The £6.9m funding pot, part of the Homes and Communities Agency’s 2015 - 2018 Affordable Housing Programme, aims to deliver properties for low rent and sale.
There will be 103 affordable new homes built on three sites across St Helens although at this stage the locations have not been revealed.
Chief executive Rob Young said: “This is tremendous news. The creation of new homes by Helena not only fulfils a regional need, it helps drive regeneration, creates jobs and stimulates the local economy.
“This funding will deliver the positive impact that we’re thrilled to be a part of.”
Helena has a target of building 1,400 affordable homes by 2015.
It will aim to fulfil this goal providing homes for sale through a range of options including shared ownership, shared equity and affordable rent.
Any profits generated from sales will be used to subsidise the development of more affordable housing.
