A VICIOUS attack in a town centre bar left a man with a serious facial injury, say detectives.
The 27-year-old man was assaulted in The Venue Bar on Westfield Street as he and his partner were trying to make their way to the bar.
He suffered a wound to the left side of his face, which needed hospital treatment.
The suspect is described as being white, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 6ft 3 ins tall with dark, possibly spiky, hair. He was wearing a white shirt underneath a dark suit jacket.
Police waited a month before releasing an appeal for information to the attack that happened at 1.30am on Sunday, June 29.
Detective Constable Mark Holland, said: "This was a vicious attack on a man who had been enjoying a night out in St Helens.
"Even at this time in the morning there were other people inside the bar. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist our enquiries to contact police."
