POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Whiston on Sunday afternoon.

Paramedics were called to a property on Martock following a report an injured man had been discovered inside.

Paramedics found the victim, who is believed to be in his 50s, with cuts to his neck and arms.

He was placed in an ambulance but died on the way to hospital.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Approve spokesman said: "The scene has been cordoned off for examination and house-to-house enquiries are underway.

"At this time the man is yet to be formally identified and next of kin are being sought.

"A Home Office post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death."

The man was found injured at about 2.40pm.
