STAR readers have been posting dramatic images on our Facebook page of the electrical storm that raged over St Helens in the early hours.
Lightning bolts could be seen in the dark skies at about 4am.
Tommy Gavin posted this picture (below) and wrote: "Took this from my bedoom window just before 4am, (just off College St). You can see where the strike is originating from..."
And Geoff Beattie took this image of fork lightning before writing: "Nice little storm in St Helens tonight.. I captured this shot from Laffak."
