THREE more off-road bikes have been seized as authorities warn of the potentially fatal consequences of reckless riding in public.

One rider lost his bike in Sutton Manor on his way to the Dream site, one fled after abandoning his off-roader in Chiltern Road in Parr and the third, who was in breach of a court order, was stopped on Parr Stocks Road.

Councillor Richard McCauley with responsibility for community safety said: “We have had some serious incidents involving off-road vehicles in the past and sooner or later there’s going to be another accident.

“Apart from the danger they pose to themselves many of these riders are untrained, putting others at risk in public.

“And of course these scrambler bikes, quad bikes and mini-motos are hardly ever insured, taxed or MOT’d.”

Serious off-road riders are urged to use their bikes where it is safe and legal such as a legitimate track.
