MAJOR road works that form part of a bus priority scheme were due to start this week at a key route in Rainhill.

They are taking place at the A57 Warrington Road/B5419 Jubits Lane/Wilmere Lane junction, sited east of the M62 Rainhill Stoops intersection.

Works will include the upgrading of existing traffic signals plus widening of some of the approaches to the busy junction.

A St Helens Council spokesperson said the works are due to take 12 weeks and will cause some disruption to traffic.
