A NEW discount store that is expected to bring 40 jobs to the town has announced the date of its opening.

Bargain Buys, which will be located in the former Comet building on King Street, near to Asda, will open its doors on Friday, July 18, at 10am.

There will be entertainment to mark the shop’s opening with hundreds of free gifts on offer, including special prizes for the first 100 customers through the checkout.

The store is the company’s first stand-alone unit in the country.

It will be home to more than 25 departments with a range of household products on sale, from groceries, home living and cleaning to toys, electricals and pets. Launched by the same father and son behind national single price retailer Poundworld, Bargain Buys currently has 13 other stores across the UK.
