A RAINHILL sixth form student has been offered a fantastic opportunity to follow her dream of a career on the stage.

Rachael Baxter, from Whiston, has been offered a place to study the foundation course at the London Studio Centre.

After graduating from the Rainhill Sixth Form Centre this summer, Rachael will move to London in September to take up the opportunity which includes all three key components of the performing arts dance, drama and singing.

She is hoping the 12-month course will enable her to go on to achieve her ambition.

Rachael is considering performing in musicals, beginning teaching qualifications or going to complete a degree.

“I was ecstatic at receiving the offer,” said Rachael, 18.

“I couldn’t believe that from the thousands of applications I had been offered a place. It was a dream come true and it’s all I ever wanted.

“I came to the performing arts at the age of 10 when I saw a performance of Les Miserables.

“From that moment, I knew that I wanted to be on the stage.

“Dance is my strength, although I do enjoy all of the arts disciplines. Attending the LSC will give me the opportunity to develop my skills and become an employable performer.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to position myself at a well-respected school to help further my artistic potential.”

Moving to London will see Rachael, who lives with parents Mary, 52 and Michael, 53 living away from home for the first time.

“It will be a great but daunting experience moving away from home,” added Rachael.

“I am really close to my family, but moving away is part of growing up and is something I am looking forward to.”

Rachael intends to gain a part-time job to pay for everyday necessities and is looking for sponsorship to help her with course fees and living costs which will total £15,000.
