NEWS spread fast on Tuesday as celebrity Peter Andre was spotted filming 60 Minute Makeover in Parr.

Crowds gathered as the Mysterious Girl singer pulled up on Chiltern Road to film an episode for the ITV show.

Work began as early as 7am when moving vans and crew vehicles arrived on the scene.

The show is famous for carrying out quick renovations on the houses of those who have been chosen from thousands of nominations.

The makeovers are kept top secret until the end of the show when the unsuspecting homeowners return to find their home has been transformed for free.

The show is expected to be screened later on this year.

I get a bit sick of Parr being the butt of derogatory comments on here and social media sites. I live in Parr, my house is spotless and myself and my two sons work full time and have never claimed benefits. I have never shop lifted, taken drugs, stolen a car or, in fact, done any of the things that people from out of the area presume that Parr families partake of daily. I wonder if the areas you live in are that wonderful Keva68 and Lestat177?? I very much doubt it. Now i'll leave you to Jeremy Kyle whilst I get back to work before my boss (the owner of a large family run firm founded in Parr) complains about the heat my rage is producing!!!

I'm not surprised it was only a 60 minute makeover in Parr. Had the team spent any longer there, they probably would've been robbed of all their tools by the locals.

Good call on my spelling error, there is no two ways about it though, Parr is a dump. If I was the only one saying it perhaps I'd admit to being wrong, but we can't all be wrong?

Like everywhere there are good and bad and Parr should not be condemned as St Helens version of "Shameless"
I live in a supposedly "good" area but David Attenborough could film a whole wild life series in one of my neighbours front garden.
What I would say is that this Council has spent thousands upon thousands of pounds on Parr. It has always been a priority for funding. Unfortunately and rather annoyingly, it is very hard to see where that money has been spent and how it has benefitted the community. That is perhaps why some people in St Helens have a downer on Parr as they see it as favoured about other areas but do not see the results of all that investment.

I've lived in most areas in St Helens and have found Parr to be the most quiet of them all! Clock face being the worst! I think the bad press comes from how parr was many years ago and I mean like 30 years ago! There's a homely feel to parr and everyone looks out for each other. I love where I live

Absolutely. Far too many people still cling to the idea of what Parr was like 20 years ago or more. Its certainly not like that now and although its by no means perfect it gets a very unfair press. There are far far worse areas to live in and there are several areas in St Helens far worse in my opinion.
