FREEDOM! Chickens have found safe sanctuary at St Helens College after 1,500 of their feathered friends were killed in a motorway crash.
In mid-May a lorry carrying thousands of chickens to slaughter crashed on the M62 motorway killing 1,500 fowl.
Six of the survivors are now recovering from their ordeal at St Helens College where Animal Care Department after tutors helped with the rescue.
Adam Howson, Curriculum Leader in Animal Care, said: “The chickens are a great addition to our current flock. Their health is improving daily and they have settled into the college well. Students and staff have taken a real shine to our latest arrivals.”
