A BRANCH of a bank that is nestled in one of the town’s busiest shopping zones is set to close this summer.
Barclays will shut in Fingerpost this August after stating that fewer customers are using the service and banking habits are changing.
Earlier this month Barclays announced that 19,000 jobs were to go across the bank over the next three years. However, the company said its two cashiers at the branch on Higher Parr Street will be transferred to the bank on Church Street, St Helens.
Maria Branigan, community leader for Barclays, said: “On Friday August 1, we will be closing our branch in Fingerpost. Customers will not need to take any action as all account details, sort code, account number, direct debits will remain the same.”
Anyone registered for Barclays Mobile Banking, online banking and telephone banking can continue to use these.
She added that exiting customers will be able to carry out basic transactions at the nearby post office.
