THE daughter of an epilepsy sufferer is taking an extraordinary step to help raise money for charity and increase awareness of the illness.

Jenny Hull, 24, from Prescot Road will be undertaking a skydive at the Black Knights Parachute Centre, in Lancaster, on August 1, in aid of Epilepsy Research UK.

Her father Stan, 53, was diagnosed with epilepsy in July 2009, suffering from complex partial seizures of the left temporal lobe.

Stan has taken various medications for his epilepsy, but still has seizures due to his type of epilepsy being one of the hardest to control. Other members of Jenny’s family have also been affected with types of epilepsy, with her mum Janet, a former sufferer of petit-mal seizures. And her late granddad, who passed away in 2010, also had epilepsy, following a stroke.

Jenny, who works as an administrator at Ezeecopy Photocopiers, is looking forward to the challenge.

“I am a bit of a thrill-seeker, so to be able to do a skydive is amazing,” she said. I am very excited and keep thinking about it and how I would feel about jumping out the plane, but I don’t seem to get scared.

“It will be a different story on the day though, I am sure.”

Jenny, who had always wanted to do a skydive in aid of charity, said she could think of no better cause than for a charity that supports those in aid of sufferers of her dad’s condition.

“I wanted to choose one that didn’t seem as well-known and I came across Epilepsy Research UK,” added Jenny.

“What stood out to me was that they are the only national charity in the UK that is exclusively dedicated to funding independent research into this condition.”
