A STUDENT nurse’s car and two years of her painstakingly documented coursework went missing when thieves struck at Newton-le-Willows.

Early on Saturday 21 year-old Sasha Dinel’s eight month old, white, three door BMW 114d was stolen from the driveway of a house in Pipit Avenue.

The thieves smashed a glass door panel at the owner’s home and stole car keys at about 5.30am in the morning.

Sasha told the Star: “My next door neighbour saw the car being reversed off the drive but thought it was me setting off for work.

"Police have said the car has not shown up on any of their cameras so perhaps whoever stole it changed the number plates. It was registered as PN63 EYK.”

Police were called to the scene at 8.30am.

In addition to being upset about the loss of her vehicle she was devastated at the prospect of having to redo masses of coursework for the University of Chester.

She breathed a sigh of relief when she learned that the university would not require her to redo the missing work and she can continue her studies.

Detective Constable Tracy Awbery, St Helens CID, said: "I would appeal to the offenders to let us know where the car and coursework are.”
