THE family and friends of St Helens hero Steve Prescott will attend a special unveiling of a plaque at the bridge named after the late rugby league legend.
Roadside signs will also be put in place around the bridge which links the town centre to Saints’ ground Langtree Park.
The original designs for the bridge were presented to Steve’s wife Linzi and their sons Taylor and Koby by council leader Barrie Grunewald at the recent official naming ceremony.
Grunewald said: “Steve was a first class ambassador not only for rugby but for the town. As well as being a legend of the game he is also honoured for his tireless fundraising for his Steve Prescott Foundation.
"Naming the bridge after him and the placement of the plaque is our tribute to one of the greats of St Helens. It's a well deserved honour and a fitting one with the bridge linking Steve's beloved town and club."
Steve died last November aged 39 following a battle against a rare form of stomach cancer. At the official naming of the bridge in his name last February Saints chairman Eamonn McManus said: “It is a clear and permanent reminder of his life and his achievements and more importantly of the person that he will be lovingly remembered for.”
