BEEKEEPING demonstrations and horse-drawn carriage rides are among the attractions at an open day showing how a landfill site is being turned into a country park.
Cory Environmental’s Lyme & Wood Pits Country Park is hosting the event on Saturday, May 24, off Vista Road in Haydock. Newton-le-Willows Anglers’ Association will also show guests the fishing ponds and there is the opportunity to operate a mini excavator digger.
Ian Craven, Cory’s area manager said: “The facilities will provide a focal point for visitors entering the park and also raise the profile of Park Ranger, Scott Lancaster. Scott will provide local groups with a unique outdoor experience including volunteering, learning, guided walks or simply further information on the flora and fauna.”
