HALLE Orchestra archivist Eleanor Roberts is tuning up for her tenth tilt at the BUPA Great Manchester 10k run.

The mother-of-two from Newton-le-Willows is part of the world famous symphony orchestra’s 25-strong team of runners who will take to Manchester’s streets on Sunday, May 18. It will be her 10th successive appearance in the run which attracts up to 40,000 runners.

Before she entered her first run she’d never taken part in a run but now runs up to 20 miles a week in training.

Eleanor admitted: “I've become addicted to running and the Manchester 10k is my favourite.

“It starts and finishes in the city centre and goes past The Bridgewater Hall where the Hallé is based. That's always a thrill, especially with the crowds cheering.”

Team Hallé runners will raise funds for the Charles Hallé Foundation, a charity which supports education and outreach work in the community.

Entries are now open for the Bupa Great Manchester Run which is Europe's biggest 10k running event. See greatrun.org/Manchester.
