A 68-year-old man had to be cut out of a car following a two car collision on Blundells Lane in Rainhill earlier this afternoon.

He was taken to Whiston Hospital along with a 26-year-old man who was out of the other vehicle by the time firefighters arrived at around 2pm.

The extent of their injuries is not known.

Fire crews from Eccleston and Huyton were at the scene for just under an hour and a half.
