SCHOOLS, community groups and non-profit organisations are invited to submit ideas for reducing the amount of household waste that goes to landfill sites.

Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and its contractor Veolia Environmental Services want applications for the community fund of £110,000 to submit their proposals between May 19 and June 13.

MRWA will hold briefing workshops on how to apply on Wednesday, May 14, and Wednesday, May 21, from 2pm to 3.30pm on both days, at 1 Mann Island, Liverpool L3 1BP.

The £110,000 will be split, with £40,000 for up to three regional projects with a maximum award of £20,000 for any one. The remaining funding will be awarded at district level with up to £10,000 per project.

Applicants must satisfy a list of 10 criteria, including engaging residents and permanently changing consumer waste habits. See merseysidewda.
