A MAN and a woman had to be cut free from the wreckage of a crash by firefighters tonight.
The collision between two cars happened on Watery Lane, Sutton at 7.40pm during an evening of heavy rain showers.
The 61-year-old man and a woman aged 50 were released from one of the cars by firefighters, who were assisted by Merseyside's Search and Rescue team.
Both were taken to Whiston Hospital.
Occupants of the other car were out of the vehicle when emergency crews arrived.
