DANCE students from Rainhill High successfully auditioned to perform at The Royal Ballet School.

Eleven sixth formers, who are studying for the BTEC Extended Diploma in Dance, plus senior students from the school’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts department, were one of five groups who enjoyed an amazing experience in London.

The students created a dance piece based on Sir Fredrick Ashton's famous ballet ‘The Dream’ which they performed alongside Royal Ballet students.

Rainhill head of dance Lou Aylward told the Star: “This was a fantastic opportunity to network with the Royal Ballet students who are also studying the BTEC Diploma in Dance.

“The project was a fantastic success and the experience gave a positive impact to the students’ motivation and ambition for the arts. Working with teachers from the RBS was a great privilege and something that we are extremely proud of.

“Our students were a credit to the school and were great ambassadors for the standard of arts and vocational education at Rainhill.”
