WHEN Martin Blondel returned to St Helens College to pick up a charity donation, it brought back some painful memories of when he had his chest waxed for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

He was joined by Andy Reid, who is an ambassador for the foundation, to pick up the £1,513 raised by the staff and students during a two-day fundraising challenge, which ranged from cake stalls to a 300-mile run.

One challenge saw Martin at the mercy of trainee beauty therapy students when he had his back, chest and leg waxed.

He said: “Getting waxed has to be the most painful experience of my life. I’m sure Steve would have been laughing if he could have seen me going through the pain.

“I thought it was my time to do my little bit to help the charity continue to grow.”

Students raise money throughout the year for a number of charities from Willowbrook Hospice to Children in Need.
