IT might be the digital era but there is still plenty of hands on fun to have at our libraries too.
Just ask the children who headed down to 11 of the borough’s libraries to star in an arts project by building dens.
As part of St Helens Council’s Cultural Hubs programme – funded by the Arts Council – families were invited to create paper ‘houses’ in their local library over Easter.
Artists Lydia Meiying and Nicky Colclough showed how to build large paper structures visitors can walk through, read in and play in.
But the idea came from families taking part in the cultural project.
The dens are made using newspaper with plenty of other fun paper-based activities on offer too.
St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Housing, Planning and Community Safety, Councillor Richard McCauley said: “Who doesn’t like making dens?
"This project is a great opportunity for families to come together to learn, co-operate and use recycled material creatively to design and make structures to animate and decorate in our 13 library spaces."
