UPDATE: A 39-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist has died following a collision with a HGV this afternoon (Friday, April 25).

The incident happened at School Lane, Prescot close to the roundabout of junction 4 of the M57, at around 12.35pm.

Officers have named the victim as Brian Archbold from Waterloo.

Collision investigators from the police's Matrix Serious and Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit are continuing their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to call officers on 0151 777 5747.

School Lane, Moorgate Road and the affected slip roads at junction 4 of the M57 have now re-opened.

POLICE are currently at the scene of a serious traffic incident following reports that a motorcyclist had been in collision with a wagon.

They were called to School Lane in Prescot at around 12.35pm close to junction four of the M57.

School Lane is currently closed along with Moorgate Lane, the southbound exit slip road and northbound entry slip road of the motorway.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to call officers from the Matrix and Serious and Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5747.
