LITTLE Millie Rose Heaton was the star of the show at Haydock Park Racecourse Easter family fun day.

The two year-old cancer sufferer was the VIP and enjoyed the red carpet treatment at the event and wasfussed over by racegoers and jockeys who took time off from a hectic schedule to ensure she had a day to remember.

Millie Rose, who will turn three in June, has stage four neuroblastoma which was diagnosed when she was 20 months old.

It started as a tumour in her stomach and spread throughout her body. She has undergone chemotherapy and in February was declared cancer free but tragically it returned last month.

After hearing of her plight racecourse staff decided to give Millie Rose a boost.

Garry Fortune, Haydock Park Racecourse general manager, explained: “Millie Rose is a gorgeous little girl and is going through a tough time, so we really wanted to treat her to something special. We invited her and her family to enjoy a VIP raceday experience where she had her own private hospitality box with as many chicken nuggets as she could eat and the chance to meet the jockeys and choose a best turned out horse for one of the races.

“We hope that Millie Rose and her family had a great day with us.”
