TWO robbers armed with a knife and an axe escaped with cash and cigarettes from a shop.
They targeted the Colliery Convenience, Old Colliery Road, Prescot on Thursday at about 3.40pm.
Detective Sergeant Catherine Walsh said: "We need the public's help in piecing together what happened before and after they committed this crime.
"Old Colliery Road is a busy thoroughfare and I would appeal for people to cast their minds back and if they were out and about at that time and think they saw anything that in hindsight seems suspicious, to contact us with that information.
The first offender is described as being white and was wearing grey and black hooded jacket, grey tracksuit pants and black gloves.
The second offender is described as being white and was wearing a black hooded top with his face covered.
