TWO of the area’s attractions are in contention for awards, after being shortlisted alongside top tourist spots from across the region.

Knowsley Safari Park and the Darkstar Ultimate Laser Arena have both been shortlisted in categories for the Liverpool City Region Tourism awards.

The awards aim to acknowledge those who have contributed the best to the region’s tourism over the past 12 months Darkstar has been nominated in the small visitor attraction of the year category, while Knowsley Safari Park is included among the large visitor attraction nominees.

The Prescot-based attraction has been listed alongside major attractions, including Liverpool Football Club and Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

Fifty entrants have been shortlisted in 13 separate categories for the final judging stage, with the winners to be announced on Thursday, May 22, at St George’s Hall, Liverpool.
