TEENAGER Kimberley Meadows’ first visit to London is one she is unlikely to forget.
The 18-year-old Carmel College student was invited to the launch of an art exhibition at the House of Commons, which featured one of her drawings that had been chosen to appear alongside 20 other works.
Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education, and Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt were at the Association of Colleges’ art exhibition.
Kimberley, who lives in Newton-le-Willows and studies fine art, psychology and physics at Carmel, attended a reception with her art tutor Liz Oliver.
Kimberley said: “The piece named ‘Rob’ is ink on paper, just a simple blue ballpoint pen!
“The paper was collaged and printed on to give a busy background.
“I was inspired by tattoos and body modification, and how people are using it as a creative outlet to express themselves in today’s society.
The former Hope Academy pupil enjoyed her visit to the capital and plans to complete a foundation year at Carmel, then go on to a fine art based degree course at university and a career in art.
