EUPHONIUM player Danny Lowery was part of a determined marching band that finished Sunday’s London Marathon on a high note having blown their way to a world record.
The 30 year-old from Haydock was a member of the Huddersfield Marching Band that completed the marathon in six hours 57minutes to record the fastest ever time by a marching band.
“Over the past year the Band has raised nearly £60,000 for the charity SENSE for deaf and blind people,” said Danny’s proud mum, Lesley.
“A representative from the Guinness Book of Records followed them all the way round the marathon course.”
On Monday Danny was with other band members enjoying a civic reception in the West Yorkshire town.
Danny works for a work placement agency in St Helens town centre and is a member of Flixton Brass Band.
