EASTER marks the opening of the borough’s first camping and caravanning site.

The new site can accommodate five touring caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 tents, at Bridge Farm in News Lane, Rainford and has been certified by the Camping and Caravanning Club.

Proprietors John and Janette Cockayne believe they are ideally placed to cater for the growing number of tourists to the Merseyside and South Lancashire area.

“Liverpool is a major tourist destination, nationally and internationally,” said Janette.

“However there is a shortage of reasonably priced accommodation outside the city for those on a budget and there are few places available for caravanners who want to be within striking distance of the city.”

Bridge Farm Camping officially opens on Saturday, April 19.

Good news, living in Billinge I have always wanted to visit Rainford and not far to tow my caravan.

We've just parked up at the farm now, happy to wait patiently in our Elddis Crusader for the next few weeks to make sure we get our spot. Only 3rd in the queue too, result!

Travellers will be welcome provided they have their CCC card and are willing to pay per night and per van/people but unfortunately their will be no place to store their scrap metal and assorted rubbish as it is strictly against CCC rules!!
Will bring valuable income to the local chippy pubs and food outlets if my caravanning has anything to go by. A good initiative by the farm.

This will bring visitors to the region and if the site owner gives visitors information about the Saverway tickets they can travel to Liverpool, Southport, Chester by train for little cost,

It's no prank. We're there now... well we're in the every-growing queue of caravaners waiting for the grand opening. Sid from Batley has just got his ukulele out and we're all roasting marshmallows on the Calorgas. Lovely.

You are so funny but do you know where the Elddis brand name came from?

You've got to get up early to flummox us caravaners. I've broken off from the impromptu sing-along that's now taking place around the camp fire we've stoked on the Rainford by-Pass roundabout at Simonswood but must hurry back as my favourite, Come By Ya, has just started and I'll be in right bother if my Ethel notices I'm missing.

So I'll just say this and be on my way...

Very good it seems you are not as stupid as some of the things you post on here.
