Man remanded in custody after park rape charge
A MAN has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with raping a 19-year-old woman in a park.
Gareth Burke, 24, from Thompson Street in Thatto Heath, is accused of attacking the woman in Jubilee Park in Roby, Knowsley on Monday, January 13.
When police appealed for information earlier this year they said a young woman was walking through the park at 11.45pm when she was allegedly attacked by a man near to a children's' play area.
Burke was charged after being arrested last Friday. His appearance at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court took place on Saturday.
He is next due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, April 7.
