SCHOOL pupils joined servicemen to plant poppy seeds at the graveyard of St Nicholas' Church, Sutton in memory of a dozen First World War soldiers who are buried there.
The ceremony was part of the commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the 1914-18 war.
Lance Corporals Ian Johnson and Stephen Wright wearing Army issue uniform and complete with deactivated .303 SMLE rifle add to the atmosphere as Eaves Lane Primary School pupils Jessica Moody, aged nine, and Nathan Hunter, 10, scatter seeds at Private Tom Griffiths' grave.
The soldier's headstone bears the inscription 'His country called and he answered'.
