ONE hundred and twenty two jobs have been created at The Glass Horse, a £3.3m, 300 seater pub restaurant due to open next month in St Helens.

In a combined operation with Jobcentre Plus and St Helens College hundreds of applicants were interviewed for the 54 full time and 68 part time positions.

The Glass Horse general manager Richard Johnson was amazed by the number and quality of the applicants and had to organise a second day of interviews at St Helens Town Hall so that everyone could be accommodated.

Richard, who has 25 years experience in the trade, told the Star: “Working in partnership with the College and Jobcentre Plus we had an incredible response and 90 per cent of the staff recruited are from St Helens. Their ages range from 16 years to 67 with a wide range of experience. We are also bringing some younger guys back into work.

“We provide big value food and drink and a family dining experience, with a further 300 seats outside.”

The pub diner is part of The Hungry Horse chain which has over 200 pub restaurants nationwide. The Glass Horse on Sherdley Road will open on Thursday, April 6.
