AN 18-year-old burglar is due to be sentenced after pleading guilty to breaking into two houses on the same day and stealing jewellery worth almost £8,000.

Matthew Truman, of no fixed address, broke into properties on Argyle Street and Albion Street, St Helens on Wednesday, March 5, stealing a quantity of jewellery worth £900 and a gold diamond ring valued at £7,000.

He is due to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, March 31.
