A FEMALE pedestrian has been detained in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries following an accident this afternoon in Sutton.

The 62 year-old woman from Sutton was rushed by ambulance to Aintree Hospital following an accident involving a Vauxhall Astra near the Boilermakers Arms.

Police were called to the scene at 12.20pm and roads in the vicinity were closed but have now reopened.
