POLICE have released CCTV imaged of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a bank robbery on Valentine’s Day.

At around 4.40pm a man walked into the Royal Bank of Scotland on High Street in Prescot where he threatened staff before escaping with a quantity of cash.

Police say the man was believed to have been carrying a weapon but it has not been confirmed.

DS Paul Speight said: "This was a frightening experience for the members of staff in the bank who although weren't hurt in the incident have been left shaken.

"We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and ask anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time to contact us in case they have information that could help our enquiries.

"We are particularly keen to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV as we believe he has information that could help the investigation and urge him or anyone who recognises him, to contact us."

Anyone with information that could help the investigation can contact detectives at Knowsley CID on 0151 777 6570, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
