THEY have been described as one of the most exciting bands to come out of St Helens in years.

Now knowledge of Stillia’s rich promise is spreading beyond their hometown after they signed a deal with a London record label.

The teenagers are currently unable to reveal any more details of the agreement or the label’s name.

And although they regard it as a confidence booster they say that the hard work is just beginning.

The four-piece rock band from Sutton will continue to tour the country to try to establish themselves.

Frontman Jack Bennett said while they were excited they are not about to get carried away.

He told the Star: “We are not music geeks but a lot of our time is taken up reading about music so we know it’s not that easy.

“We are expecting to release our first single in June followed by two to three over the next couple of months. Then we head out on tour for around six months.

“We start in Scotland and travel to Liverpool. We have never toured before although we have played different cities.

“We can’t wait. It’s difficult to put into words. We are excited and nervous at the same time.

“People at the label have been straight up with us.

“They said they signed us because we have massive potential and if we can do well for the label they will beef us up.

“It’s about putting us out there and getting a buzz about our name.”

Alongside Jack in the band are his younger brother Matty Bennett on the drums, lead guitarist Connor Moran and bassist Dave Sarbutts.

The 18-year-old lead singer continued: “We could sell out certain venues in London such as Islington and Camden no problem because people come specifically to see us but it’s a big game down there.“There are thousands of bands in London alone.

“We are trying to break London but it may take a while.

“In the meantime we are working all over the place.”

Jack said they came to the notice of the London music scene thanks to the influential blog Ralph’s Life, which promotes unsigned bands.

Jack said: “Things have rocketed since they did a blog about us.

“But once news of the deal was announced people were texting saying now we’ve made it.

“We’re not going to be selling out the Echo Arena just yet.”
