POLICE have seized a number of replica drivers’ licenses used for getting youngsters into clubs and pubs following a raid on a house.

Officers executed a search warrant at an address in Rainhill on Tuesday, March 4 and discovered a number of items including a laminator, magnetic cards and number of laptops and nine completed licenses.

Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Brennan said: "My officers have seized a number of these replica licenses in St Helens town centre, after attempts were made to use them to get into the town’s bars and clubs.

"Thankfully our town’s licensees are responsible and have reported this to us and following a thorough investigation, we have executed today's warrant, which we believe has taken the distributor of these licenses out of action.

"Producing such replicas for the use of juveniles to get into bars and clubs is not harmless and could result in a young person finding themselves adult environment and what could be a vulnerable position.

"We would continue to urge anyone who has any information about the production of these licenses to get in contact.”

Enquiries continue and all of the seized items will be examined. At this stage no one has been arrested.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the neighbourhood team via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
