A LIMITED number of scholarships are available at St Helens College which could be worth up to £2,000 for eligible higher education students.

The College has signed up to the Government’s National Scholarship Programme (NSP) which contributes to discounted tuition fee costs in the first year of studies. That could be worth £2,000 to full time students and £1,000 for part timers.

UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, has seen an increase in the number of disadvantaged young people taking up a university place, a trend mirrored at St Helens College, which saw an additional 384 students who were classified as disadvantaged being enrolled onto Higher Education courses in 2013 compared to figures in 2012.

By participating in the National Scholarship Programme, the College aims to continue to attract these learners and make university level study and the attainment of degree qualifications available to those who may have struggled with the cost in the past.

To be considered for the scholarship programme at St Helens College you must be a full time UK resident, have a household income of less than £25,000 per year, have received a firm offer of a place on a higher education programme at the College, and applied for a student loan for tuition fees.
