AN 18-YEAR-OLD moped rider suffered two suspected broken legs in one of three unrelated road crashes that happened inside two hours on Tuesday afternoon.

The teenager was hurt when his moped was in collision with a Nissan Quashqai at the junction of Park Road and Pocket Nook Street shortly before 3pm.

Several miles away the Rainford by-pass was closed shortly after 2pm following a collision between a Ford KA and Vauxhall Corsa.

Both drivers – a woman aged 19 and a man described as “elderly” – were taken to Whiston Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

A section of road between Bushey Lane and Mossborough Road roundabouts were closed for a number of hours with traffic directed through Rainford.

Meanwhile, at 2.30pm two men were hurt on Bold Road following a collision between a red Peugeot and Vauxhall Astra.

A 46-year-old man had to be cut out of the Peugeot before he was removed by paramedics on a long board.

A 36-year-old man was helped from the Astra by paramedics and both men were taken to Fazakerley Hospital for a check up.
