THREE young men were arrested on suspicion of assault and affray after a fight broke out in Billinge, it has emerged.

Police were called to reports of a brawl in Rainford Road at 2am on Sunday, February 23 and asked CCTV operators were asked to capture images of the fighting.

The disturbance allegedly involved four men and woman. It left a man in his 40s with head and leg injuries, say police.

A police spokeswoman said: “We arrested three people. A 19-year-old man from Leigh on suspicion of assault and affray; a 21-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows on suspicion of assault and a 21-year-old Billinge man on suspicion of assault.

“They have been bailed pending further enquiries.”
